Hegel: The Whole Picture

Lecturer: David Rathbone

Originally Taught: Winter School 2006

In these five sessions we shall conduct an overview of the grandest of all the grand narratives in the history of philosophy – the Hegelian system of speculative philosophy. In the first session, an overview will locate the subjective, the objective and the absolute perspectives in relation to one another. The following three sessions will examine each of these perspectives in turn, and in the fifth session Hegel's project shall be considered as a whole. A reader of selections from all of his works will guide our recapitulation of Hegel's thought.
