Psychoanalysis - A Philosophy of Mind?

In this course, Drs Jo Faulkner (Latrobe) and Matthew Sharpe (Deakin) will introduce students to the groundbreaking work of Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, Jacques Lacan, and feminist psychoanalysts. The course will be framed around recent developments in the philosophy of mind (and neuroscience), and assessing the impact that psychoanalytic theory can and has had on other areas in twentieth century philosophy: notably, the philosophies of art, society and ethics.
